The software in cars is becoming more and more complex and new functions are being added. Uncertainties and problems often occur when introducing new features that rely on innovative technologies. To reduce this problem, ZD Automotive has developed an OCR program that has been specially adapted to infotainment systems. OCR stands for “Optical Character Recognition”. It can be used to automatically analyse the output in the infotainment system. Such data can also be used in test automation.
Test automation by AI is one of our most important fields of research. The concept of our automation solution is to imitate human senses such as seeing (through video / image recording & processing), hearing (through recording and waveform analysis) and touch (through click, slide and touch simulation).
Features such as 24-hour data collection via trace/log can replace complicated and repetitive human processes. This reduces costs for personnel and material and combines human skills with technical solutions such as simulation.
As an elementary component of test automation, OCR uses optical input devices to read the text and image information of the infotainment system. By using various pattern recognition algorithms, the program captures the morphological characteristics of a text and stores them in all common file formats.

The OCR helps our customers to reduce the costs and the effort for text evaluation. The system is particularly suitable for infotainment systems and the analysis of their output. It can be seamlessly integrated into systems like the ZD IDE and can recognize languages from all over the world. This allows texts to be recognized at high speed and with a low error rate.
